THE ESSENTIALS BEFORE YOU START

  • For 45 liters, €0.10 less per liter means €4.50.
  • Over a year, savings depend on your mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Subtract the cost of a detour to compare what you actually keep.

Start with your driving habits

Enter your typical monthly distance and average consumption in liters per 100 kilometers. Annual distance multiplied by consumption, then divided by 100, estimates the volume of fuel used.

THE FORMULAAnnual volume = kilometers per month × 12 × consumption in L/100 km ÷ 100. At 1,250 km per month and 7 L/100 km, that is 1,050 liters per year.

Apply the price difference

Multiply that volume by the price difference per liter between the two options. For example, 15,000 kilometers a year at 7 L/100 km means 1,050 liters. A €0.10 difference per liter then means €105 over the year.

FOR ONE FILL-UPFor 45 liters, a €0.10/L difference means €4.50. Twelve identical fill-ups would mean €54. This is an example calculation, independent of actual station prices.

Allow for the detour

This estimate only considers the price of fuel. An extra trip also uses fuel and time. A cheaper station may be less worthwhile if it takes you off your route.

A DETOUR CHANGES THE RESULTExample: an extra 10 km at 7 L/100 km uses 0.7 liters. At a hypothetical €1.80/L, the detour costs €1.26. Of a €4.50 saving, €3.24 remains, without accounting for your time.

Compare in Car AI

The app’s station search helps you find available options nearby. Check the fuel type, displayed price and available information before choosing your next stop.

  • Compare the same fuel and the volume you plan to buy.
  • Check when the price was updated, where available.
  • Choose a stop that fits your route, then open directions.

Is the price difference worth the detour?

To compare two stations, multiply the liters you plan to buy by the price difference per liter. Then subtract the fuel used on the extra detour. For 45 L and a €0.10/L difference, the gross saving is €4.50. A 10 km detour at 7 L/100 km and €1.80/L costs €1.26, leaving €3.24 before accounting for your time.
